Preserve the Prelude
Christmas Prelude is part of the soul of Kennebunkport: a tradition that brings warmth to the town each winter and helps new generations fall in love with this place we call home. While no one is proposing to eliminate Christmas Prelude, there have been calls to dial it back and reduce the town’s support. That’s exactly why this moment matters. The question isn’t whether Prelude should continue, but whether we protect what makes it special or slowly chip away at what makes it special.Join the e-mail newsletter or our Facebook GroupA project by Ryan Bilodeau
A Vision for Prelude's Future
We’re grateful to the elected officials and community leaders who dedicate their time and energy to serving our town, and appreciate the thoughtful consideration they bring to these decisions. While there has been no proposal to eliminate Christmas Prelude, conversations about its future still matter, and they should remain grounded in how to sustain and strengthen what makes this event so special.Christmas Prelude is more than an event on a calendar; it’s part of the soul of this community and something truly worth preserving.Rather than focusing on scaling it back, we have an opportunity to be thoughtful about how it evolves, protecting what people love while finding smart, sustainable ways for it to grow, so future generations can experience it the same way we have.
